Coyotes Softball GPA Tops In Summit League
VERMILLION, SD — The University of South Dakota’s softball program boasted the top grade point average in the Summit League and 19th-highest in the nation during the 2011-12 academic year as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recently. Head coach Amy Klyse’s program achieved a 3.435 GPA.
In addition, six of the 15 Summit League players tabbed 2012 NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes were Coyotes, a league high. The six included juniors Missy Blackburn and Kate Snow, sophomores Paige Policky, Katelyn Wudel and Christine Broders, and freshman Allie Daly. Policky had a 4.0 GPA during the academic year. The award is bestowed upon any player who achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher during the 2011-12 academic year.
Klyse is set to begin her sixth season with the Coyotes Feb. 8 at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah.
