Company to Add 1,000 Tech Jobs in Vermillion
VERMILLION - Gov. Dennis Daugaard is set to announce that 1,000 information technology jobs are coming to South Dakota as part of a growing effort to keep high-tech positions from being shipped overseas.
Minnesota-based Eagle Creek Software Services provides tech support to large health care, financial services and other companies. Officials tell The Associated Press that Eagle Creek plans to build a new project center in Vermillion and partner with the University of South Dakota to help train potential employees.
Daugaard is expected to join company and local officials for a formal announcement Wednesday in Vermillion.
The project is an expansion of Eagle Creek's so-called Dakota model, which uses U.S.-based project centers in lower-cost areas such as South Dakota and North Dakota as an alternative to providing IT support from overseas locations.
