Busy Week for Employees of Our State Government

    Each week, Joe Kafka, from the Governor’s staff, sends out a media release announcing events which state agencies will be involved in for the next week.

This week’s announcement is about four pages long, and includes information about speeches Gov. Daugaard and Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court, David Gilbertson will be making to the legislature.

Tuesday, Jan. 8, 1 p.m. CST, State Capitol, House of Representatives, Pierre – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will deliver his annual State of the State address to a joint session of the South Dakota Legislature. The address will be carried live on South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

Tuesday, Jan. 8, through Thursday, Jan. 10 – The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation will host Job Search Assistance Programs (JSAP).  JSAP is a workshop for people recovering from job loss or enhancing their job search skills.  Trained instructors speak on modern-day techniques used to successfully find employment.  Topics covered are: resume and cover letter writing, interviewing etiquette, networking effectively, using social media and much more. JSAP will be offered at the following locations:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 9, Sioux Falls, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. CST – at 811 E. 10th St. Parties interested in attending should register by calling 605-367-5300. For more information, visit www.sdjobs.org

Wednesday, Jan . 9, 1:30 p.m. CST, State Capitol, House of Representatives, Pierre – South Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson will deliver his annual State of the Judiciary address to a joint session of the South Dakota Legislature. The address will be carried live on South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

Thursday, Jan. 10, Sioux Falls, 8 a.m. CST - The South Dakota Board of Pardons and Paroles will hold its monthly meeting at the State Penitentiary, Third Floor Conference Room. For more information, contact the Board of Pardons and Paroles, 605-367-5040.

Thursday, Jan. 10, Sioux Falls-The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and South Dakota State University will hold their Structural Pest Control class for commercial applicators. The class will be broadcast to seven additional sites across the state.
