Building Boom Continues in Sioux Falls
The building boom in Sioux Falls is not slowing down. City officials say they have issued more than $200 million in building permits so far this year.
This is the first year construction valuation for building permits has ever reached that level in April.
Planning and Building Services Director Mike Cooper says the numbers show the city is responding to continued increases in employment, population, and economic expansion in the community.
The earliest the $200 million mark was reached before this year was at the end of May in 2007, and the construction valuation is about double what it was at the same time last year, $103.5 million.
