Boulder Colorado Flash Flood A Good Reminder, Even To Us Flatlanders
Todd Heitkamp, of the Sioux Falls National Weather Service, was on with Chad Thursday morning in the Main Street Cafe talking about the flash flooding in the Boulder, Colorado area.
Overnight, the area reported anywhere between six and seven inches of rain in a short amount of time.
Earlier in his career, Heitkamp was actually a forecaster in the Denver Colorado Weather Service Office. He spoke with Chad about the power of water and why people – even in our area, where it’s relatively flat – need to pay attention when a flash flood warning is issued.
“When we have flooding around here, people don’t take it serious enough. Anytime we have flooding, you need to avoid the water at all costs.”
