Battle of the Buzzer Beaters Both Energy and Skyforce Hit Big Shots in Enemy Territory
Occasionally when two teams meet you will have one game that comes down to a last second shot. Having more than one between rivals definitely stokes the fire.
Even better, when the visiting team sticks it in the face of the home team both times during the same season has got to be the striped unicorn of our time. The Iowa Energy and Sioux Falls Skyforce have had two such nail-biters within two months of each other. If you don’t believe it, scroll down because both examples are there.
Damien Wilkins didn’t need to go long. The NBA veteran just stepped back to gain a little space and connected from the left side of the court with just over 5 seconds left resulting in a 104-103 Energy triumph on December 12.
Rookie Fuquan Edwin had just stroked a three to give the Skyforce a lead of 109-107 before Iowa tied the contest with 8 seconds left. Just before the horn, Edwin got a feed from Larry Drew II and enacted revenge giving Sioux Falls a 112-109 road victory on Feburary 10.
Odds are against more fireworks on February 27 when the teams meet again. There is that chance, so don’t rule it out completely.
Let's go chronologically first with Wilkins, then with Edwin. Good eatin' right here.
