Gene Hetland

Hi, and thanks for logging on! I'm a lifelong South Dakotan, in fact a lifelong eastern South Dakotan. I grew up on a farm north of Montrose, in McCook County and am a South Dakota State University grad (Go Jacks!). I lived and worked for a time in Huron after college and have lived in Sioux Falls since January of 1975. My wife's name is Sharon and we're Twins fans, although some years it isn't easy. I hope you'll keep checking my posts. We're not going to get into who's right, who's wrong or who's full of something. I'm just telling you a bit about what's going on with me.

Spam, That Annoying E-Mail

I'm sure you're like me--you get a lot of :"spam" e-mail.

I usually clear out the folder every couple of days, but recently when I emptied the folder on Friday, by Monday I had around 470 new ones

Adios, Muzak–The Name, Not The Music

Muzak is going by the boards--not the "elevator music" itself, but the brand name.

Tolerating Trifocals

I am now the proud wearer of trifocals, although I'm not sure "proud" is the right word.

I'd worn bifocals since I was 35 or so, and have pretty much gotten along.

But being a diabetic for more than 50 years does something to the eyesight, and none of it is good

When Staying Warm is a Priority

Another of those cold winter days South Dakotans are familiar with is a time when staying warm is a priority.
