‘All of Me’ Remake Announced at DreamWorks
DreamWorks has a full plate ahead of them. Their animation department recently announcement its next 12 films, which include ‘Kung Fu Pand 3,’ a ‘How to Train Your Dragon‘ trilogy and ‘The Penguins of Madagascar.’ But what’s on the docket for the non-cartoonized division, you ask? Well, get ready for the return of the body-switching story made famous by Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin in a remake of ‘All of Me.’
The news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter, which also reports that ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’ producer John Davis is on board along with screenwriters Abbey Kohn and Mark Silverstein, both of whom previously tackled ‘The Vow’ and ‘Never Been Kissed.’
In the 1980s movie, Tomlin played a millionairess who tried to infuse her soul into the body of a younger woman in the hopes of obtaining immortality. However, something naturally went awry and she ended up trapped inside the body of her lawyer, played by Martin. Except the even funnier twist is that she could only control the right side, while her lawyer could still maneuver the left. Sounds very “Lindsay Lohan in ‘Freaky Friday,'” we know, but if that movie got a remake, why not this one?
So far, the plan for the remake is to have a man’s soul enter the body of a woman. The project is still in the script phase, though, so which actor and actress will be taking this on is still up in the air. Before DreamWorks took over, the rights to ‘All of Me’ were previously owned by New Line, which originally wanted the lead role to go to Queen Latifah. Who knows? Maybe she’ll still have a chance.
