A Hope the Canary Might Sing Loudly Again
A metaphor: the canary in the deep, dark nearly played out mine(our country), is barely chirping. The No Labels people are hosting a meeting with a major announcement:
No Labels, A national grassroots movement of hundreds of thousands of Republicans, Democrats and independents dedicated to a new politics of problem solving, is hosting its Meeting to Make America Work!, where Gov. Jon Huntsman (R-UT) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) will be unveiled as the organization’s new national leaders. They will be joined by an emerging group of congressional “problem solvers” and 1,300 citizens from across the country on Jan. 14, 2013, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
The first of its kind, the Meeting to Make America Work! will bring together Republicans, Democrats and independents to discuss the importance of working across the aisle to solve our nation's most pressing problems. The Huntsman and Manchin announcement will be accompanied by the unveiling of the congressional Problem Solvers -- a group of House and Senate members who have committed to meeting regularly to build trust across the aisle.
In the wake of the fiscal cliff debacle, and just days before the presidential inauguration, No Labels Meeting to Make America Work! will send a powerful message to Washington and across America that now is the time to “Stop Fighting, Start Fixing.”
At times the problem of overspending and endless bickering is, at least, stifling, and at worst poisonous. I offer you this information to provide hope that Congress can clear the air, allowing the canary to sing with joy and enthusiasm, and we can confidently go about our lives.
A listing of the members of the Congressional Problem Solvers does NOT include our representative, Kristi Noem. Next time you have contact with her ask her to join.
